Bio
Lew Harriman is retired, after 36 years as Director of Research & Consulting at Mason-Grant, 10 years in marketing and applications engineering for Munters Corporation and 5 years as an Air Force Officer in Engineering and Services Division of the Strategic Air Command. His 46 years of work at Munters and Mason-Grant was focused on moisture control, humidity, energy and indoor air quality in buildings and industrial processes.
Lew served as a National Peer in the Construction Excellence Program of the Public Buildings Service of the U.S. General Services Administration. He is well-known as a writer and lecturer in North America, Europe and Asia. He is a Fellow, Life Member and Distinguished Lecturer of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
Lew is the author of The Dehumidification Handbook, and was the lead author for both the ASHRAE Humidity Control Design Guide and The ASHRAE Guide for Buildings in Hot & Humid Climates. He also wrote the California Guide to Mold Avoidance for Builders, the California Guide to Best Practices for Home Energy Retrofits and Real World Net Zero Energy for California Homes. He also served as the Chair of ASHRAE’s Multidisciplinary Task Group on Damp Buildings, Human Health and HVAC Design. He has served as Chair and Vice Chair and handbook Subcommittee Chair of ASHRAE’s Technical Committee 1.12 – Moisture Management in Buildings, and earlier served on Technical Committee 8.12 – Desiccant Dehumidification Equipment and Components.
